Home / Legal Questions / I am looking for a real estate attorney in Las Vegas, Nevada, I would like to pay for my friend's property taxes to prevent a foreclosure. Below is the response I got from Google: Las Vegas, you can place a lien on your friend's property to secure repayment of the overdue property taxes you paid. This is often done through a tax lien certificate purchase or by filing a mechanics lien, depending on the circumstances. You'll likely need a real estate attorney to help with the process.

Hello there! My name is Dolan and I am here to help. I may need to get back to you on any follow-up questions tomorrow. To answer your question, generally speaking, yes, you could seek a lien on the property if the goal is to have him pay you back. If there are any prior liens on the property, the law requires that those liens take priority. This means if there are some foreclosures again in the future, the law requires the primary lienholder to get paid first, then you get what's left, with the owner taking the rest, if anything. The Clark County recorder's office has no forms, but you can find some online - https://eforms.com/release/lien/ That link is an example of the process. Also, it looks like you paid $149.99 and it should only be $49.99 for this.

Did you get paid??? I've paid $149.99 prior to logging in and now that I'm logged in, under invoices there's a link to Pay Now. Sorry, 1st time using this service and I'm quite confused as to how this works.

Daryle, I'm so sorry! I realized that's what I sent was the release. I tried looking online, but can't find one! So you can use this very, very, very basic one to help with this and file it with the county: This Lien Agreement is made and entered into as of [Date], by and between: Lienholder: [Your Full Legal Name], located at [Your Address] Property Owner: [Owner's Full Legal Name], located at [Owner’s Address] Property Description: Address: [Property Address] APN (Assessor’s Parcel Number): [Insert APN if available] Legal Description: [Use what's on the deed if available] 1. Background Lienholder has paid [Amount] on behalf of Property Owner to cover property tax obligations in order to prevent tax foreclosure. The payment was made on [Date(s)] directly to [County Tax Collector]. 2. Agreement to Repay The Property Owner agrees to repay the amount of [Amount] to Lienholder with interest of [X]% per annum by [Repayment Date or Schedule]. 3. Creation of Lien The Property Owner agrees that this amount shall be secured by a lien on the above-described property. This lien shall be recorded with the County Recorder and shall remain until the debt is fully satisfied. 4. Remedies If the debt is not repaid as agreed, the Lienholder may take legal action to foreclose on the lien or enforce collection through other lawful means.
